Philomena Hughes

When she was 11 years old, Philomena Hughes decided she wanted to become a photographer.

"I enjoyed being able to keep something in a memory for longer than just watching it."

"I actually take a photograph every day... I don't just take one. If you're a photographer, its really hard to just stop at one."

"I'm a portrait photographer, but lately I've been spending a lot of time with birds."

"There's lots of artists that just like to hide in their house or work in their studio or where ever they work but my choice is to be connected to other artists."

"I also really believe in helping other people learn the craft of photography and/or how to photograph their own  art form."

"I really believe strongly in advocating for the north... Its funny, I was down in Arizona and they thought we all lived in igloos. I was thinking, This is 2020. How could you think that way?"

"I actually became a photographer when I was 26... I never saw 30 years down the road what life would be like when I would have accomplished, what i have done, what I have wanted to do. And now looking back on those number of years, it gives me great pleasure that I've been able to do what I love every day."

"I kept my name as my business because its such a weird name.. I think its better to have a name because people meet you as a person."

In her spare time, Philomena likes to do yoga and read. She also likes to go swimming and travel.
